Title:   Twisted Shileded Wire Pair Imbalance Measurement
Abstract:   A shielded twisted pair wire can be measured for imbalance by driving the shield with an AC voltage and measuring the differential voltage appearing across the wire pair. The AC voltage couples to the wires from the shield capacitance and a perfectly balanced wire pair would indicate no voltage difference. Using standard 1% resistors limits the measurement ability to about –30dB. Using a device such as the Rejustor allows for factory calibration of the sensing circuit to set to about –60dB and the fully floating configuration of the resistors allows them to be used in a non-ground referenced circuit.
