Title:   Rejustor-based Precision Capacitance Measurement
Abstract:   A high precision low cost capacitance measurement method is described. As described, this method can be used to measure capacitance in the range of 10 pF to 655,350 pF in 10 pF increments.

The method uses a calibrated voltage reference, precision comparator and a low cost microcontroller containing a 16-bit counter to accurately measure capacitance.

The Rejustor-based capacitance measurement method uses rejustors to trim the precision voltage reference, set the comparator threshold and provide a precision resistance in series with the unknown capacitance.

The method described can be used in embedded systems as a means of detecting presence of a capacitive device (i.e. a piezoelectric transducer) and ensuring the correct device is installed (i.e. a medical device with multiple attachments).
