Title: |
Programmable Vehicle Key Using Rejustors |
|
Abstract: |
Modern solid state implementations of vehicle keys are desirable due to the higher reliability, improved security provided by increasing the number of unique keys, and the perceived prestige of a “high tech” replacement of an older mechanical system.
One or more Rejustors can be embedded into a mechanical “key” and be programmed to provide a substantial number of unique key values. For example, using a very conservative 1% adjustment resolution and using two dual Rejustors per key, provides over 800,000 unique key values. Typical mechanical keys, which are easily copied, have much less variation due to the limited mechanical space available on the key and the limited resolution capability of machined ridges and lock tumblers.
