Title: |
Improving Filters and Timers |
|
Abstract: |
The problems with timers and filters are that they usually do not match what you expect especially when you build large quantities. Statistics take over and you are bound to have problems. The causes of some of the problems are, 1) Single component tolerances to a worst case of 15% and 2) Temperature tolerance up to 200ppm/C.
The solution people have taken is to use Microprocessors and DSP’s. They are very powerful, but costly to develop with $10 or more per line of code not counting additional resources needed on the board. In case you do not want to hire a programmer to do a timer or a filter, this may be a solution. |
